When we deduce, based on the absolute and differential intensities of all the oligos for each locus that a given probe is likely to be reporting primarily on one or more gene models, those identifiers are listed in bold.
Due to technical problems such as 1) two or more gene models correspond to the same gene, 2) no suitable primers could be designed for a given gene, or 3) the failed qPCR, the sample list ended up with a total of 17 genes.
The germline (TES) encompasses more gene models than the soma (VAS).
Approximately half of them (15) are represented by two or more gene models.
Interestingly, 5DS included relatively more gene models derived from non-conserved sequences than 5DL, especially among the Low Confidence models (p < 0.01, Fisher's exact test).
However, because more gene models were captured with the MIRA assembly, as assessed by BLAST matches, we used the MIRA assembly for further analyses.

In total, more plausible gene models were created for 60% of P. infestans genes.
Each locus code may have one or more associated gene models, corresponding to the mature, spliced mRNA transcripts.
With the vast amounts of transcriptomic data in the database we can derive more accurate gene models.
Since the P. yoelii genes were predicted using similar bioinformatics software, we expect that improved gene finders may be able to generate more accurate gene models.
More than 85% of these 454-based ESTs aligned to the genome, and around 75% of the 454 ESTs overlapped over one or more berry gene models.
