The phastCons score database [ 37] of 9 species (rat, mouse, human, dog, cow, opossum, chicken, frog, and zebrafish) conservation was downloaded from the UCSC genome browser [ 38].
The unique candidate binding site, conveniently located in the 5' enhancer region, shows a perfect conservation between rat, mouse, human, dog, and opossum (figure 2).
The smaller (~61nt) transcript generated by cleavage is highly conserved across many species, including mouse, human, dog, lizard, frog, and stickleback.
In this region, the genomic organization of the fragment and its flanking regions is similar in mouse, human, dog and chicken, whereas translocation is observed in pig and cattle.
The comparative sequence analyses using mouse, human, dog, cow, elephant, tammar, opossum, platypus, and chicken genomic sequences were carried out for Peg13, Meg1/Grb10, Plagl1/Zac1, Gnas, and Slc38a4 imprinted loci to obtain comprehensive results.

Here we analyzed mouse genes in the same mouse-human-dog triples as in our previous study [ 8], but additionally considered conservation of mouse exons in the rat genome.
Such a trend was consistently found when human-mouse, human-dog, human-rat, S. cerevisiae – S. paradoxus and S. cerevisiae – S. mikatae dN/dS median values were used (for all plots, t-test: P < 7.1 × 10-7; selected plots are shown in the additional files [Additional file 13]).
