We present a molecular dynamics simulation study of the migration of grain boundaries with triple junctions.
At such high temperatures, migration of grain boundaries occurs, causing the coalescence of small grains and formation of large grains.
In both cases, a large amount of atomic shuffling is needed to account for the migration of grain boundaries.
It yields the same result for the migration of grain boundaries but a different result for phase transformations.
Experimental analysis has indicated that driving force for the formation of cellular precipitates could be resulted from the chemical instability of supersaturation after annealing and migration of grain boundaries, and this phenomenon could be suppressed either through alloy design to increase gamma-prime solvus, and to hinder the migration of grain boundaries.
Until now, this coarsening has been analysed in terms of classic LSW theory or in terms of the migration of grain boundary liquid films.
