In the absence of a co-transfected GHR cDNA, the cells only show weak activation of reporter expression in response to exogenously administered GH (maximum fold activation 1.65±0.26), but the response to the GH is dramatically increased when they are transfected with a wt GHR cDNA construct (maximum fold activation 16.9±1.5, Figure 3A).
However, the maximum fold activation induced by aldosterone was nearly twice that induced by cortisol for midshipman MR. Therefore, while the EC50s of cortisol and aldosterone did not differ substantially, the level of activity induced at the EC50 was much higher with aldosterone.

Curated information for keratinocyte activation included the maximum fold induction of luciferase activity (Imax), concentrations for the n-fold induction of luciferase (EC1.5, EC2, and EC3) and cytotoxicity (IC50).
Fold activation is calculated as the maximum polymerization rate for each reaction divided by the maximum polymerization rate for the reaction without cortactin.
Finally, it is not clear what "fold activity" (in Figure 1B) and "fold activation" refer to.
The fold activation was calculated as the luciferase activity in cells infected with SeV divided by that without SeV.
Fold activation due to cortactin-mediated synergy was calculated by dividing the maximum polymerization rate at a given cortactin concentration by the maximum polymerization rate of the equivalent reaction containing no cortactin.
After induction, the maximum fold expansion for accumulated megakaryocytes was almost 5000-fold, and the induced megakaryocytes were characterized by analysis of gene expression, polyploidy and platelet activation ability.
