Combined with the limited cryogenic power of the helium refrigerator in use, this restricts the maximum electron energy of the S-DALINAC in continuous wave operation.
We are developing and constructing a compact linear accelerator with a maximum electron energy of 40 MeV and an intensity of 6.4 mJ/pulse.
I derive the β dependence of the maximum electron energy resulting from limitations due to radiative (synchrotron and inverse-Compton) losses and to finite remnant age (or size).
IPAA - Samples, blank and standards (NIST SRM 1571) were irradiated in the photon beam of the INFN Frascati National Laboratory Linear Accelerator LINACC) at an average beam current of 40 μA, maximum electron energy of 300 MeV and a W converter of 0.3 mm thickness.
The maximum electron energy flux from the three energy bins around 100 eV decreased to values below 1 × 108 eV cm−2 similar1 eV−1, similar to the values often observed prior to Boundary 2. In addition, at this time, the energy flux of the ion precipitation sharply increased and approached that observed before Boundary 2. We refer to the region between Boundaries 2 and 3 as Region b.

Maximum energies of scattered gamma ray are 17.6 and 39.1 MeV at the operating electron energy of 1 and 1.5 GeV, respectively.
