The exposure of service industries to market forces.
The word 'marketization' is correct and usable in written English. You can use it to refer to the process of making something (often goods or services) available and tradeable on the market. For example, "The marketization of the health care industry has resulted in many medical services becoming more accessible and affordable.".
Prominent examples of marketization include contracting out, internal markets, management contracts, and market testing.
For instance, in the area of utilities such as electricity and telecommunication, some countries such as the United Kingdom moved toward both marketizing and privatizing these sectors, whereas in Norway and Sweden marketization occurred primarily within the public sector.
"There is a real need for pragmatism here," they write, "and to avoid both the crushing inefficiency of market denial... and the pathology of ideological marketization".
In narrower terms, marketization refers to changes within the public sector where market mechanisms and incentives are introduced within public or publicly regulated organizations.
NPM has two main strands: marketization and corporate management.
Other forms of marketization remain far more common than privatization.
Although marketization is often complementary to the move toward privatization, it is conceptually distinct.
