The scanning electron microscope (SEM), as a promising imaging equipment has been around for decades to determine the surface properties (e.g., compositions or geometries) of specimens by achieving increased magnification, contrast, and resolution greater than one nanometer.

SEMs are more practical than the OMs since: (1) they are able to generate higher resolution and increased magnification, and (2) they can also provide a greater depth of field.

When the selectively increased magnification follows a path not exactly on HM but is shifted to the upper (or lower) field, the neural representation of this path should have the largest length from the neural representation of the fovea to the most anterior part of the retinotopic map.

Its increased magnification, three-dimensional vision, physiologic tremor filtering, and 7 degrees of freedom are believed to provide the surgeon with an enhanced ergonomic environment, simplifying complex laparoscopic tasks such as suturing and knot tying, which are essential techniques for SC.

With increased magnification, (Figure 2) several fluorescent dots, surrounding muscular fibers or interstitial matrix were revealed (Figure 2, top and middle panels).

An increased magnification of the retinotopic map between 30° and 60° azimuth may be explained by a higher density of retinal ganglion cells within the retinal region receiving input from this part of the visual field [50].
