The mind is a fabulator.
I am a citizen, concerned about politics, but I'm first and foremost a storyteller, a novelist, and a fabulator who plays with words and with the imaginary.
He was a vain, self-promoting fabulator who was also capable of great shyness and who, while away from home -- at one point for several years -- poured out his heart in love letters to his wife and in magnificent journal entries.
Thus, the "docudrama," "nonfiction novel," and television miniseries " based on a true story" have proliferated to supplement the flagging imaginations of the fabulators.
Again, I may be biased, but Nottage (whose 2009 Pulitzer prize-winning play Ruined opens at the Almeida next month) manages to be pretty damn inspiring, urging us to "break rules to help reimagine the world", and to be "fabulators and cultural watchdogs".
When I feel like I can't trust my brain 100%, Ludwig really comes in handy. It makes me translate and proofread faster and my output more reliable.
