In its annual frenzy before the summer recess, the Legislature took action today on more than 200 bills, approving what is being called the nation's strongest law allowing patients to sue their health maintenance organizations and passing a $22.9 billion budget for the coming year.
Because they're now a telecommunications service, that would be Title II of the Communications Act, the strongest law we've got.
"Everybody wants to have the strongest law, but in some states, the political climate may dictate that they take on a piecemeal approach," O'Connor said.
Chris was a primary mover with state government, community advocacy organizations and The National Employment Law Project in creating the strongest law protecting day laborers in the nation, the Illinois Day and Temporary Labor Services Act.
Utah, which passed the strongest law and had the greatest number of outside participants, had a smaller share of clean indoor air law supporters (49%) than any state but Louisiana.
