PhastCons is a phylogenetic Hidden Markov Model which evaluates the strength of sequence conservation across species [ 40].
The maximum BLAST score (typically > 200) and Expect-value (typically < 1 × 10-50) were used as indicators of the strength of sequence similarity.

Since the strength of sequences was estimated based on the genomic overrepresentation (conservation) of their nucleotides (see equation 19), these results suggest that DNA uptake bias alone can explain the genomic overrepresentation of DUESs and some of their mismatched forms.
Strengths of Sequence include (a) the ability to customize sequence using options and (b) integration of sequence via events.
This is promising news for further studies of coding variation among individuals, and our ability to combine datasets generated with different methods over time – one of the inherent strengths of sequence-based population genetics.
The assembled sequences were clustered into 27 groups, based on the strength of these sequence matches across these taxonomic data sets.
Systematically higher classification rates indicate that a region showed differential activation patterns for the four sequences, and the size of the classification accuracy served as a measure of the strength of the sequence representation in that region.
Ultimately, the results suggest that the efficiency of DNA uptake significantly depends on the strength of one sequence only the strongest which is the most likely to be bound and taken up independently of its position or orientation in the DNA fragment.
