Using vaccine-grade and endotoxin-free CPS, the host defense peptide LL-37 was found to interact with meningococcal CPS and inhibit release of pro-inflammatory mediators from human and murine macrophages.
We found that preparations of meningococcal CPS induce the release of pro-inflammatory mediators from human and murine macrophages via TLR2 and TLR4/MD-2 (S. Zughaier, unpublished observations, and see below).
To translate our findings to human tissue, the efficacy of olodaterol to inhibit the LPS-induced release of pro-inflammatory mediators from human parenchymal explants was tested.
In this study, we investigated inflammatory mediators in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF; 40 mediators) and blood (33 mediators) from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV infected patients with tuberculous meningitis (TBM) who started ART during tuberculosis treatment.
The availability of therapeutic formulations of pentahydroxyflavone glycoside, rutoside (RU), led us to investigate the ability of this molecule to modulate the release of various proinflammatory mediators from human activated macrophages in vitro and to ameliorate arthritic markers in a rat model.
The combination of prednisolone and the antithrombotic agent dipyridamole synergistically suppresses the secretion of TNF-α and other proinflammatory mediators from human PBMCs stimulated with LPS, but also phorbol myristate acetate/Ionomycin-stimulated and α CD3/α CD28-stimulated cultures [see Figure S1 in Additional data file 1].

We characterized the signaling pathways induced in osteoclast precursors by soluble mediators released from human prostate carcinoma cells.
We studied the effect of soluble mediators released from human prostate carcinoma cells on osteoclast formation from mouse bone marrow and RAW 264.7 monocytes.
To further understand their anti-inflammatory mechanisms a C70-based fullerene conjugated to four myo-inositol molecules (C70-I) was examined in vitro for its effects on the signaling pathways leading to mediator release from human lung MC.
The mediator release from human parenchymal explants was analysed by Friedman test (non-parametric repeated-measure test), followed by Dunn's multiple comparisons test.
Previous studies have suggested that at lower concentrations (approximately 10 6 M), adenosine actually promotes mediator release from human mast cells 23– 23.
