"Smart wearables, meanwhile, are still struggling to find their place in the market," noted IDC analyst Ramon Llamas.

Among other places, it visits San Juan del Rio, known for gemstones and alpaca; Guadalajara's San Juan de Dios market, noted for ceramics and pottery, and Taxco, a silver center.
"The two big anxieties right now are worries about investment banking and the state of the commercial credit market," noted David Berry, head of research at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, a brokerage firm specializing in the financial services industry.
