Recently, an F2 mapping population generated from crossing between the flexuosus and cantalupensis botanical groups was used to identify twelve QTLs related to four fruit traits, including fruit length, fruit width, netting density, and flesh thickness (Ramamurthy and Waters 2015).
SAP produced the mapping population, generated the phenotypic data, designed the genotyping assay, and generated the genotypic data.
For this purpose, future work could involve the development of a mapping population, generated using two of the genotypes within the SNP discovery panel as parents.
To that end, one motivation for this study was the prior development of a genetic mapping population generated from a cross of the two lines assayed herein [ 9].
Because of high validation rate of this dataset, the detected SNPs can now be used as markers to genotype the RIL mapping population generated from these two parents (Iniguez-Luy et al. 2009).
