'geek' is a correct and usable word in written English.
It is mainly used to describe someone who is very knowledgeable, especially in the area of computers or technology. For example, "My brother is a real geek - he spends all his free time researching the latest gadgets."

If use of the web is to become ubiquitous, "user interfaces" (geek-speak for the point where computers and people meet) have to get a whole lot better.
