"Evenfall," set to Bartok's Piano Concerto No. 3 (finely played by Cameron Grant and conducted by Paul Mann), is an all gray, shimmeringly lighted moonscape in which Mr. Wheeldon creates memorable, puzzling images (sometimes evoking "Swan Lake") with a principal couple set against a his corps de ballet of 12 women in gray tutus and 6 men.
Ms. Weese's final performance the following night with City Ballet, in Christopher Wheeldon's "Evenfall," was a lovely conclusion to her memorable 14-year career with the company.
With no one available to conduct "Evenfall," Christopher Wheeldon's ballet set to Bartok's Piano Concerto No. 3, Cameron Grant played the entire composition on solo piano.
