"enjoyed playing" is a grammatically correct phrase that can be used in written English. You can use this phrase when referring to an activity someone was doing that has now been completed. For example: "My children really enjoyed playing in the park yesterday.".
I enjoyed playing there.
He enjoyed playing tennis, bicycling, and traveling.
"I enjoyed playing with Shaq.
He enjoyed playing for them.
I enjoyed playing with him".
"I've just really enjoyed playing golf here.
"I've actually enjoyed playing in the West.
