There's some fixes for this already - some people recommend wrapping the ends of your cables with springs from pens or shrink wrap, but that's a little fiddly, and would likely be a temporary solution anyway.
If you've got rabbits or other small pets that could be tempted to gnaw away at floor-level cords, you might want to try covering your cables with a metallic braided sleeving: even tiny, sharp teeth can't get through it, and the metal will give your pet's teeth the same sensation you'd feel if you chewed on a piece of foil!
