For each vessel the X and Y slices were compared and only vessels where both flow profiles and pulsatility measurements matched were retained for the study.
In contrast, in Ophn1 − / y slices, Y27632 revealed that repetitive stimulation induced LTD (0.64 ± 0.03, n = 5, P < 0.005, Fig. 4Bii), which significantly differed from untreated slices (P < 0.001).
In Y27632-treated Ophn1+/ y slices, low frequency repetitive stimulation produced LTD (0.62 ± 0.08, n = 5, P < 0.01, Fig. 4Bii), the magnitude of which did not differ from untreated slices (P = 0.61).
When we show a single orthoslice (one x-y slice in a tomogram) it is not possible to see the density that exists above and below.
A serial z-stack ePD images (X-Y slices) were combined to reconstitute a 3D ePD image of a PSC colony.
Dimensions of the datasets were 400 (z, depth) × 300 (x, length) pixels over 300 (y, width) slices, distributed over a 2.7 (z, refractive index = 1.4 for cartilage) × 12 (x) × 12 (y) mm scanned area, resulting in a digital sampling resolution of 10 × 40 × 40 µm, equivalent to the optical resolution of the system.
An x- y THG image slice and an x- z THG image slice of the structures is shown in Fig. 3, with a corresponding x- y white light image of the region in the inset.
For analysis, the maze was divided into slices either horizontally in the X YY plane (termed "layers"; Fig. 2B), or vertically in either the X– Z or Y– Z planes ("slices"; Fig. 2C).
Optical slices were taken through the x, y plane where each slice was square (e.g. 256 × 256) pixel 8-bit image at medium scanning speed.
