"The open-access people just put things online and worried about the consequences later," Professor West said.
"This is the sort of thing that antitrust is particularly worried about," said Mark Lemley, a professor at Stanford Law School and an expert on antitrust law.
"People in Hawaii are unusually worried about invasive species," Sheila Conant, a professor of zoology of University of Hawaii, said.
"They couldn't get any good work out of them because they were so worried about where their kids were," Professor Steinberg said.
"This shows just how worried Microsoft is by Google," said David B. Yoffie, a professor at the Harvard Business School.
Professor Michael Adler, of the Royal Free and University College Medical School, is very worried about it.
Kate Clancy, the lead author of the study and a professor of anthropology at the University of Illinois, worried that sexual harassment may be "one mechanism driving women from science".
"You want to be sure to pursue policies that maximize free trade, but most economists are more worried about the savings side of the equation," said R. Glenn Hubbard, professor of economics and finance at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business.
"I am very worried about this and so are many of my colleagues," said Professor James Wilsdon, chair of the Campaign for Social Science.
