Conclusions: The vocational satisfaction of people with limb loss may be improved by better workplace modifications, depending on the functional capabilities of the person and the functional demands of the job; improvement may also be achieved by vocational rehabilitation programs, especially for those with an amputation in combination with other morbidity.
Conclusions: Although amputee patients had a relatively good rate of job participation, they reported problems concerning the long delay between amputation and return to work, problems in finding suitable jobs, fewer possibilities for promotion, and problems in obtaining needed workplace modifications.
Employers would be thrilled to interview such a qualified candidate, until they discovered that the applicant was deaf and required a few workplace modifications to perform their duties.
Prevention efforts have focused on reduction of inhalation exposures by workplace modifications that reduce generation of aerosols or improve dilution and ventilation of workplace air, and one follow-up study has documented successful remediation (Bracker et al. 2003).
28 The main aim of the current study is to examine the efficacy of temporary work modifications (eg, workplace adaptations, altered work hours, amended duties, phased RTW), initiated at an early stage of work disability, on RTW in workers seeking medical advice at the occupational health service (OHS) due to musculoskeletal pain or depressive symptoms.
Although the amount of research in the field of work disability and return to work (RTW) has steadily increased, 11 there is still limited evidence on the effectiveness of interventions targeted at RTW. 12 Some workplace-based interventions, including either work modifications and/or involvement of workplace key stakeholders (eg, worker, employer, RTW coordinator) have shown promising results.
In addition, workplace interventions such as work modifications and case management involving all stakeholders has been successfully applied for the return to work of workers with low back pain [ 40, 41].
To evaluate the effectiveness of workplace dietary modification interventions alone or in combination with nutrition education on employees' dietary behaviour, health status, self-efficacy, perceived health, determinants of food choice, nutrition knowledge, co-worker support, job satisfaction, economic cost and food-purchasing patterns.
Information on implementation of work modifications at the workplaces will be gathered by self-formulated questions.
We will also gather data on the implemented work modifications at the workplaces.
