In the second component of the study, results from the qualitative study of staff experiences suggested that low staffing levels were a particular concern on wards with low morale, with immediate impacts reported on workloads, training opportunities, supervision, exposure to risk, sickness absenteeism, and use of temporary 'bank staff' [ 15].
