Health worker migration has raised important concerns about its potential effects on the countries of origin.
A separate concern is that health worker migration can deplete public coffers in the countries that migrants leave.
These concerns are so acute that the term "brain drain" is often used as a synonym for skilled migration, with health worker migration seen as its worst face (Grignon et al. 2012).

Most of the Turkish migrants to both cities arrived via guest worker migration flows, and, as a result, both the descendants of immigrants are predominantly the descendants of guest workers (Bocker, 2000; Danış, D. and İrtiş, V 2008. Most parents migrated from Turkey around the same time and from similar regions and had lower educational and occupational status (Crul et al. 2012).
Another dimension of health worker migration is its relationship to health equity.
And we owe source countries suffering under shortages a commitment to taking concrete steps to manage health worker migration in a way that neither threatens opportunity for migrants nor deepens global health inequities.

This research reveals clues about how the rise in pay transparency may begin affecting broader economic indicators in the coming decades, including workplace productivity, unemployment durations, wage inequality and the gender pay gap, worker migration patterns and trends in employee turnover.
