We considered age, sex, type of injury (motor vehicle accidents, falls or accidental, work-related, assault, sport injuries and other causes), coagulation (by prothrombin time) and neurological status (by GCS), as well as the use of antithrombotic agents as described above.
The higher risks in men up to 70 years reflect a combination of a high incidence of work related, assault related, sport related, and motor vehicle crash related ocular injuries.
