The lack of the HVP phenotype in Ross 308 broilers may result from interference of the white dominance or recessive locus with the pigmentation in the abdominal septa of areolar connective tissues.
We genotyped 798 SNPs in 160 F2 male individuals to construct a linkage map that was used to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with the pigmentation traits of interest.
