Genes in each pair had similar but not identical sequences (supplementary material Table S1), with one found on zebrafish chromosome 12 and the other on chromosome 3.
Last week, there was a clue: F.B.I. scientists matched DNA from a hair taken from Mr. Hoffa's hair brush with one found in a car driven, on the day of his disappearance, by his long-time friend, Charles (Chuckie) O'Brien, who has long denied any link to the disappearance.
The officials said that with the DNA testing, not available decades ago, the Federal Bureau of Investigation had matched a hair taken from Mr. Hoffa's hairbrush with one found in a borrowed car that the friend, Charles O'Brien, drove on July 30 , 1975 the day Mr. Hoffa was last seen.
Seven of these women attended for colposcopy, high-grade disease was detected in three (43%) with one found to have CIN 3 and one an invasive cancer (stage 1b).
Of the analysed lesions, 12 were identified as newly developed primary melanomas, and 11 of those 12 were found to contain wild-type BRAF (results for the 12th were apparently inconclusive), with one found to contain mutant NRAS.
Three of these (43%) had high-grade disease (defined as CIN 2+), with one found to have an invasive cancer (stage 1b) and one CIN 3. The value of this intervention relies on the detection of high-grade CIN and early stage cancer with a good prognosis.
