When you work that close to each other all the time, you will quickly determine whether you will click with someone or not.
There have to be informal events where junior and senior people can meet; you will click with somebody, and when you do, you'll know.
Ronan certainly makes an engaging heroine who will click with the same fans who embraced The Hunger Games, but the harsh 15-rated grimness (piles of rotting corpses, sexual threat, fleeting but harrowing violence etc) limits the film's potential audience.
If a movie has succeeded on its home turf, meanwhile, there's a sound financial argument to be made that the same story will click with a wider audience, once you've got shot of all those pesky subtitles.

It's not inconceivable they'll click with the general public, as they did in the 80s: for a larger gentleman, they're infinitely more forgiving than a slim-cut suit.
And they will work through their disappointment on their own--while they silently hope that they'll click with the next person you start dating (whenever that might be, they're not going to rush you).
But that's still a little on the niche side, the kind of game that'll click with an old-school Nintendo crowd, but perhaps not those with a more casual interest.
