While having the blessing and support of IUPAC is certainly a necessary condition for InChI to become the chemical structure standard for the world-wide chemistry and the wider scientific communities it is by no means sufficient.
This presentation will describe the extensive use and dissemination of the InChI and InChIKey structure representations by and for the world-wide chemistry community, the chemical information community, and major publishers and disseminators of chemical and related scientific offerings in manuscripts and databases.
This is necessary to give the world-wide chemistry community that IUPAC serves the confidence that facilities for development, maintenance and support of the InChI/InChIKey algorithm are firmly established on an ongoing basis, and will ensure acceptance and usage of InChI as a mainstream standard.

However, how best to engage with the wider chemistry community outside of the Blue Obelisk remains an open question.
We are delighted to continue this effort with this Thematic Series, for which the speakers (and others) were invited to present their work in more detail to a wider chemistry community.
