The FA said it had fined Cole after "he admitted an FA charge in relation to a Twitter comment which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute".
The Sky Blues boss was charged by the Football Association with "failing to act in the best interests of the game", having "acted in a manner which was improper when making the comments".
A statement on the FA website read: "The allegation is that the player acted in a way which was improper and/or bought the game into disrepute by making comments which included a reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race".
The FA's statement read: "The charge, which the player admitted and requested a paper hearing, was that he acted in a way which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute in that the comment was posted on his Twitter account and included a reference to a person's sexual orientation and/or disability".
