Such systems may provide a testing ground for the command and control of ballistic missile defense systems in which response times may be slower but the spectrum of phenomena requiring analysis will be broader.
Fire Department officials would not specify the neighborhoods in which response times would rise the most, but they noted that in six of the eight neighborhoods that stand to lose firehouses, response times would still fall below the citywide average of 4 minutes and 46 seconds.
