In detail, the first sample was created by randomly drawing 5 million reads of the universal pool of "control 1" and the second by drawing x% of reads from "control 1" and y% of reads from file "control 2", whereby x+y=100, corresponding to 5 million reads.
The comparison of cells grown at pH 6 and pH 7.5 revealed higher mRNA pools for 88 genes whereby for 49 corresponding proteins (for 10 of them significantly) increased peptide numbers were found (Table 2).
A lower mRNA content at pH 6 was found for 91 genes whereby for 52 corresponding proteins (for 16 of them significantly) decreased peptide numbers were found at least in one protein fraction at acidic pH (Table 2).
For 39 genes we found a decreased mRNA level at pH 9 in comparison to pH 7.5 whereby for 26 corresponding proteins a lower content was indicated by lower peptide numbers in at least one fraction and for four of them a significant lower abundance at pH 9 was observed (Table 1).
This leads to the grouping of probes in a way that is comparable to clustering, whereby we assign genes corresponding to non-zero values in any particular column of <img src="http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article/asset?id=info?doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0004523.e048.PNG" class= inline-graphic"/> to the same group.
By performing numerical simulations of the transmission spectra for various PDQW heterostructures, we have demonstrated that resonant photonic tunneling occurs in these structures, whereby photons with energies corresponding to bound states of the system undergo perfect transmission through the entire structure.
In this study (outlined in Figure 1), a high throughput fermentation screen was developed to identify those genes required for high sugar (i.e. akin to wine) fermentation, whereby deletion of the corresponding genes would result in protracted or arrested fermentation.
For both models, we examined two further submodels with or without constraints, whereby coefficients for the corresponding correlations were held constant across sessions (It was hypothesized that paths a2 = a3, b2 = b3 = b4, c2 = c3, and d2 = d3 in the constrained model, but not in the unconstrained model).
Differences in algal productivity were reflected in the corresponding N-uptake, whereby C. parriaudii consistently removed more N than C. coelothrix.
