Well known upregulated molecular markers include N-cadherin (CDH2, M34064), fibronectin (FN1, AK026737), transforming growth factor β1 (TGFβ1, BC000125) and vimentin (VIM, A1922599) (Fig. 7a).
Autophagy has not been examined in this context but might well be upregulated given its crucial role in senescence (Ref. 91).
