Of 27 potential sociodemographic and exposure covariates, children providing blood samples differed significantly from those declining only in their weight, school attendance, and Mn exposure: Those declining were lighter, had attended school approximately a month longer, and used wells with higher levels of Mn than those providing blood samples (data not shown).
Finally, regarding iAMR, the refined model excluded four states as outliers (Aguascalientes, Durango, Sonora and Tlaxcala), identifying three predictors: female literacy, low birth weight, skilled attendance at birth and intimate-partner violence.
