A couple of weeks ago, there was a small and fairly weak turn-out for the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown, the result of which - a win for Aidan O'Brien's Hawk Wing - was a foregone conclusion even though the horse, naughty boy, did not win in the decisive manner that had been expected of him.
