What books do we tout at Christmastime (excuse me, the holidays) for our fellow language mavens?
This is what has happened in lots of other areas in the past — it's why we tout American ingenuity.
Much as we tout our smashing successes in tourism, self-sufficiency, culture and whatnot, stereotypes die hard.
