As Ms. Paul explains, "A few [researchers] have gone so far as to suggest administering pain relief to fetuses undergoing an assisted birth, perhaps in the form of an injection of local anesthetic into the fetus's scalp where it is grasped by the forceps or suction device".
R5.3 We suggest administering aminoglycosides when necessary with respect to the following rules: administer them with single dosing per day, monitor their residual level in case of more than a single infusion, administer them for a maximum of 3 days whenever possible.
