Participants were considered to have a history of ischaemic heart disease at entry if one of the following was observed: (a) myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, or both, diagnosed by a physician; (b) electrocardiographic evidence of myocardial infarction, defined as major or moderate Q waves coded using the Minnesota system; or (c) a positive Rose chest pain questionnaire.
Minnesota coding for the ECGs was done by 4 observers trained against the Minnesota standards, and the following ECG categories were defined: major Q waves (codes 1-1 or 1-2), taleft-sidedded R waves (codes 3-1 or 3-3); S-T depression (codes 4-1 to 4-3), T wave inversion (codes 5-1 to 5-4).
The central idea is that topographical phase differences in traveling waves code information.
Possible ischaemia consists of code 1.3 (minor Q waves); codes 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 (ST segment abnormalities); and codes 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 (T wave abnormalities).
Limb lead electrocardiograms were classified according to the Minnesota code (25), with tall R waves (codes 3-1 to 3-3) used to reflect left ventricular hypertrophy.
By discarding the evanescent waves and perceptually coding the plane wave signals, coding gain is obtained.
The model that was founded on a single stage vapor liquid equilibrium system and enhanced with ultrasonic waves was coded using MATLAB simulator and validated with experimental data for ethanol ethyl acetate mixture.
A detailed benchmarking of the HYPERION code has been done with the existing finite-difference full-wave code ORION.
