The Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ only has complimentary concerts once a month, but they are worth seeking out for the performances and the modernist, glass-faced structure with a sweeping panorama of the waterfront.
Several expansive terraces circle each floor, offering panoramas of the waterfront, city skyline, or lush private courtyard.
Situated on the Brooklyn waterfront at the intersection of Dumbo, Brooklyn Heights and Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Panorama complex is comprised of five interconnected buildings and occupied two entire city blocks.
Or wander the historic center with its upscale cafes, designer boutiques, and hip lounges housed in magnificent Swiss meets Italian abodes; then meander the pristine Parco Ciani, a lush waterfront park with Asian-inspired bridges, tropical flora and beautiful panoramas.
Once across that busy harbor into the lee of the Brooklyn waterfront, the river rewarded every stroke with an ever-changing panorama — the sinuous Brooklyn Bridge, the sculpted Manhattan Bridge, the silvery Freedom Tower.
