One of the most unique parks in the country, Yellowstone is home to mountains, epic waterfalls, and, of course, the big show of hot spring geysers.
The sprawling Northern Territory offers nature like nowhere else – birdlife, waterfalls, stifling heat and, of course, huge crocs.
The surrounding area has three different tropical forests, waterfalls, mountain biking paths, fishing and, of course, a volcano.
Yellowstone is the Disneyland of nature: you can spot bears, wolves, bison, and other animals, fish, go rafting, admire waterfalls and volcanic calderas - and of course hike along the 1,300 miles of marked trails around Yellowstone and Grand Teton, all while camping or staying in lovely lodges or tepees.
Australia, of course, can still go chasing waterfalls, as when running down 310 to beat South Africa at the Wanderers in 2011.
What that means of course is that there are bigger waterfalls elsewhere, but few have the violent drama of High Force as the water is squeezed through two sluice-like barriers of rock and tumbles 70ft to a plunge pool.
My favorite places to do this exercise so far have been at The Lake Shrine in Pacific Palisades, the waterfall at the top of the Temescal Canyon hike, and of course, the beach.
In time, I grew to become more surrealistic — waterfalls in the middle of Chicago, moon shaped cityscapes and of course, giraffes.
