Large particles scatter a significant amount of light so that the diameters given by DLS intensity distributions will be greater than that obtained by AFM even if there are only a few large particles [14] Fig. 2. To visualize MCs, the sections were fixed with carnoy's fixative, and immersed in toluidine blue using the following protocol: carnoy's fixative for 1 min, RNase-free water for 10 sec, toluidine blue (0.5% in 0.12N hydrochloric acid) for 5 sec, RNase-free water for 10 sec, 70% ethanol for 15 sec, and 100% ethanol for 15 sec three times; the sections were then vacuumed for 10 min to dry.
Larval muscles were prepared for fine fibrillar pattern examination as follows: ten 3rd instar larvae were put in 65°C water for 5 10 sec.
Synthetic lyophilized Aβ40 (Bachem, Bubendorf, Switzerland) was dissolved in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) to a concentration of 0.4 mg/ml and sonicated in ice water for 20 sec to avoid pre-aggregation.

Spotted cDNAs were cross-linked with 65 mJ of UV irradiation on slides, which were then post-processed for 1 hour at 42°C in pre-hybridization solution (5× SSC, 0.1% SDS, 0.1 mg/ml BSA), washed twice in 400 ml of 0.1× SSC for 5 min, dunked in 400 ml ultrapure water for 30 sec, and dried by centrifugation at 550 rpm for 5 min. Slides were used the same day.
