A hidden electric resistance heats the sculpture's head up to 300 °C, so that the splashing water, conveyed by a hydraulic system, forms a dense steam as it hits the hot metal surface (Fig. 1a, b).
A dry working platform accessible by a vertical shaft hosts a flood relief system and 5 water conveying modules consisting of PAT, gearbox and high-pressure feed pump delivering a part of the water yield to a reservoir elevated by 220 m. Figure 1 gives an overview of the system.
The two outstanding technological features are the wood stave penstock and the hydropowered supply system consisting of several so-called water conveying modules as unit of a reverse-driven centrifugal pump ("Pump as Turbine", PAT) driving a high-pressure feed pump (Fig. 3).
