"Almost every lobbyist, political organizer, consulting group with ties to the Republicans was represented," said one Republican official in Washington.
"Accurate or not, you have to be sensitive to the people you are representing," said Jef Billings, a renowned designer of skating costumes.
"The head of the opposition of the government you're representing says, 'Can you help us do a coup and kill the guy?'".
"There are 13 million people who voted for Mohamed Morsi and these people need to be represented," said Sherif Taher, a senior member of the liberal Al Wafd Party.
"That's important for us because it lets us know that all the different life cycles are represented," said Pamela Lynch, the biologist.
"They are not being represented," said Stephen B. Bright, director of the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta and an expert witness for Quitman County in this month's lawsuit.
"It is amazing; all the factions are represented," said Rafik Yousseff, 52, an engineer and Christian who said he planned to vote for Amr Moussa, a secular-minded former foreign minister.
"I think she is one of the artists we are trying to insert into the canon to give it a little more depth and make sure women are represented," said Ms. Bashkoff.
That compares with about 50 percent of the time if they are represented, said Olga Pribyl, managing lawyer for the special education office at Equip for Equality, the advocacy center in Illinois.
"The reality is in Hollywood if you got brown skin, black hair and black eyes it is hard to be represented," says Venk. Lack of diversity does not just occur in Hollywood though.
