The other thing is, You've got to have the perspective that space flight is really risky.
"It's a hit-driven industry, which is really risky from an investor standpoint," said Brian Blau, an analyst with Gartner who covers social games.
"This is really risky stuff, putting someone up there in that extreme environment and breaking the sound barrier," Dr. Clark said.
"Everybody seems to know that restaurants are really risky business, but somehow, they're saying, 'Oh, they're rolling in it, they can pay for it,' " he said.
"They know that being a mediator between the West and Iran is really risky," said the Western official who requested anonymity.
"The way he plays is really risky for the defence because, if he makes a mistake, he could get a red card," Schumacher said, with no apparent irony.
"They can turn their $500,000 portfolio into $600,000 by borrowing, but if you told them you were going to borrow money to buy a REIT, people would say, 'Gee, that's really risky,' " he said.
"Life in the Philippines is really hard, so even if we know that life in the Gulf is really risky, we take that risk and hope we won't be one of those victims," she said.
