Five studies focused on diabetes [ 32, 37- 40], and there was one study each on individuals with various chronic diseases (for example, hypertension, diabetes, coronary artery disease, and so on) [ 34], multiple sclerosis (MS) [ 31], arthritis [ 33], asthma [ 35], and bronchiectasis [ 36].
There was one study focusing on each of the following: Parkinson's disease, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), adiponectin level, atrial fibrillation, intracranial aneurysms, nonsyndromic cleft lip and palate (NSCLP), nonsyndromic hearing impairment, otitis media, preeclampsia, primary open angle glaucoma, inflammatory bowel disease and reumathoid arthritis.
There was one study each on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Of the 17 studies, 10 studies assessed depression, three studies assessed social phobia, and there was one study each on PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and panic attack.
"There was one study that found that a single TB patient can infect 14 other people in the course of a single bus ride".
"I will say there was one study suggesting that in women with a family history it may increase the risk, but that was with the earlier pills, and there is not enough data for me to tell you definitively that you should not be on birth control pills," Dr. Heerdt said.
