The Daily Telegraph, in a leader headlined The lasting message of 'Nous sommes Charlie', thought the rally a "powerful reproof to the despicable actions – and warped values – of the Islamist thugs".
At his office one afternoon, he told me that he blames warped values for the drop in international-news coverage — "the Hollywoodization and 'frivolization' of the news" — and he blames the networks, including his own: "Entertainment values began to overwhelm news values".
That negativity, he said, contributed to his warped values.
