There are examples like this one all over the place in retail these days: the Globe and Mail reports that a New England-based robotics company, Symbotic LLC, has made autonomous warehouse robots that fulfill orders far faster and more efficiently than employees – to the tune of an 80% cut in labor costs, while fulfilling the same number of orders in a space 25-40% smaller.
Mr Thrun offers Kiva's warehouse robots as an example of a similar labour-replacing system.
