In order to evaluate the performance of the GNG algorithm, a number of other commonly used clustering methods, like K-means, fuzzy C-means, self-organizing map and Ward method are utilized in this study.
The output variables of the WRF model representing the forecasted atmospheric conditions were used as predictors by ANNs, adjusted to calculate the solar radiation incident for the entire Brazilian Northeastern (NEB) (which was divided into four homogeneous regions, defined by the Ward method).

For hierarchical cluster analysis, we applied the Ward method, and for distance measure, we used the squared Euclidean distance method.
The dendrogram analysis was performed using Ward method and the results of parameters are shown three groups in Fig. 4.
Then, following the Ward method, we determined that the number of conglomerates should be 4. Lastly, a k-means analysis was performed considering the identified number.
Hierarchical clustering technique (e.g. Ward method, single linkage, complete linkage, etc)., K means and latent class clustering (LCC) have been used in road accident analysis [2, 3, 20 22].
In addition, respectively based on absolute and relative contents of 11 fatty acids, HCA of tested 30 samples was performed using a Ward method to visualize the differences and/or similarities among samples through linkage distances.
This figure shows a dendrogram calculated by the Ward method, using composition ratios and specialization coefficients of the comparison with JEGM and SDGM, and percentages of landslide masses (Table 1).
As the effects of the parameters can differ among animal groups with different public affective attitudes, the 22 animals were classified into three groups (i.e., favorable, fairly unfavorable, and unfavorable) using cluster analysis (Ward method) based on Preference and Coexistence scores, and the same mediation analysis as above was performed for each animal group.
