Human walking force parameters were identified by a genetic algorithm (GA) from experimental forced vibration data.
The tail was also the critical anchor of the large, powerful hind leg muscles that produced most of the walking force required for moving the many tons of sauropod weight.
Using walking force time histories measured on a treadmill, the frequency content of the force was investigated, resulting in the formulation of a multi-harmonic force model.
Factors such as the probability distribution of walking frequencies, step lengths and amplitude of walking force for its five lowest harmonics and subharmonics are taken into account.
This paper presents an improved version of this force model for high-frequency floors with statistically defined parameters derived using a comprehensive database of walking force time histories, comprising multiple successive footfalls that are continuously measured on an instrumented treadmill.
The corresponding walking force model is derived using a set of single footfalls recorded on a force plate and it features a deterministic approach which contradicts the stochastic nature of human-induced loading, including intra- and inter- subject variability.

The proposed force model provides a more accurate description of the walking forces applied by the pedestrians.
The registered motion of the pedestrian allows for the identification of stride-to-stride variations, which is usually disregarded in the simulation of walking forces.
Key novelties include modelling the natural variability of the walking forces and the human bodies, as well as their individual interaction with the supporting structure at their moving location.
Walking forces us to zone in.
For example, during walking, forces of up to 300% bodyweight can be transmitted across the knee joints [ 34], and the forces can become four to eight times higher during running [ 35].
