In July, the National Athletic Trainers Associationn issued a paper stating, "Close quarters combined with general poor hygiene practices make athletes particularly vulnerable to contracting skin diseases".
Under this new arrangement, athletes were vulnerable to losing their scholarships for a variety of reasons such as the inability to produce because of injury, failure to perform as desired on the field, and/or a change in coaching staff or coaching philosophy.
Only in recent years have scientists begun to understand what happens to the brain when it is severely shaken: how one concussion, if not given time to heal, can make an athlete more vulnerable to other ones, and how multiple concussions can lead to permanent brain damage.
