The New York school teaches its young students the importance of voting, student activism and participation in democracy, according to a school statement.
"What we need today is a renewed commitment to a constitutional right to vote, student debt forgiveness and job opportunities," he said.
In high school, he was voted student-body president, and so, one time, when the rough kids from his school beat up the middle-class kids from another school, he went and apologized.
The voting student regent for 2015-16 is Abraham Avi Oveded, a UCLA undergraduate in economics who is minoring in global studies.
This was designed to stimulate thinking on the topic, and by voting the students had to consider the issue and act, thus activating their thinking on the new concept and preparing them for the new learning.
The day of the vote, students at U.C.L.A. occupied a building, and the next day students at Davis, Santa Cruz, and Berkeley followed suit.
A day after the vote, students worried about the fate of their studies, their participation in school bands, their work in art classes.
As a result of that vote, students will pay a big price but many politicians cost themselves their integrity and their seats.
Despite the regents' vote, students still don't know how much next year's tuition will be.
Under the plan for a tuition increase, approved by the UC regents on Thursday by a 14-7 vote, students could pay as much as 28% more over five years, depending on state funding.
