The main problem of turbulence modeling for most of these applications is obvious: Due to the necessary volume of integrations, which can only be solved numerically, they are mathematically difficult to handle and lead to large computational costs.
The result has been an integrated structure that offers reduced mass, packaging volume, and ease of integration for spacecraft systems.
